THE NEED
Endoscopic evaluation of ulcerative colitis is highly subjective, with significant variation between doctors—even among leading specialists. This inconsistency can lead to over- or undertreatment, delayed interventions, avoidable hospitalizations, and increased costs for both patients and the healthcare system. Current training and supervision methods are insufficient to ensure uniform quality.
THE SOLUTION
ENACT uses AI to analyze every frame of a live endoscopic procedure, providing an immediate, on-screen classification of disease severity. With an accuracy of 89% and the ability to filter unusable video frames, ENACT outperforms traditional post-procedure assessments that require video uploads and central readings. The solution integrates directly with existing endoscopic equipment, minimizing disruption to daily clinical workflows.

PROJECT SUMMARY
ENACT is an AI-based system that analyzes live endoscopic video of ulcerative colitis patients, providing real-time and expert-level scoring of disease severity. By reducing the variability between doctors’ assessments, ENACT enables faster, more consistent treatment decisions and improves patient outcomes.
CLINICAL IMPACT
Patients benefit from more precise and timely treatment decisions, reducing the risk of unnecessary hospitalizations and disease progression. Doctors and nurses gain a reliable decision-support tool that reduces observer variance, while researchers and pharmaceutical companies save time and costs on centralized expert evaluations—especially in large-scale clinical studies.
